Colour me Family!

It’s always an honor when a fellow photographer thinks enough of your work to ask you to work for them.

That’s the case with Jaime. I met her accidentally one night at a fellow photographer’s studio and we have pretty much been friends since. She is orig from AZ and she will soon be moving back. She wanted some shots that were reminiscent of Charleston for her and her family. I just so happened to love her family. Her husband was so gracious and didn’t mind all the zany randomness and the kids WERE GREAT! What fun is it for kids to have their pictures taken? It requires attention spans that most adults never possess.  Here are some of the AWESOME shots we got. Oh by the way, great colours Jaime, they looked really great against the all backdrops we chose. :)

I of course added my little flairs to some things and others I just let them be photos.

I’ve noticed being a mom myself. There isn’t much privacy….ever.

Elliott *Elly* is the little one in the middle. Whenever I could get reaction from her, it made me laugh so hard. Look at her. I’d have loved to have gotten this look when mom and dad were kissing.

He’s the big brother.  I think this is overall my favorite shot of the day. Although I like so many of them.

That’s alot of legs. Pairs? or Sets?

Again, Elly just moves to the beat of her own drum. Gotta respect a woman like that.

I couldn’t help but to post this. Delaney gave me the CUTEST looks most of the shoot. You can tell her mom had a camera habit. These kids were primed for the cam. This in the dictionary defines cuteness!

Jaime’s family was so sweet and loving. I really wished Jaime that I had more time to get to know you better. But I’m definitely glad we crossed paths.

Jaime Kesler - Tomme!!!!! You rock! But I already knew that. I LOVE these. They are so us. You captured our family perfectly. Thank you so much! The kids LOVED you too. You really had a way of letting them just be themselves and somehow stlil get great shots. They think you’re the greatest and would rather do pictures with you than me any day. You’re way more exciting than Mom!

I think it’s funny how I was a huge fan of yours before I ever even met you. Then, we ended up working together and I was fortunate enough to get you to do our family pictures. I’m so glad I got to know you- even if it was briefly. I would have liked to know you better too. I wish you all the very best! May God richly bless you and yours.

So THANK YOU again! We think you’re the best!

Much love,
The Kesler Family

Beware of the Boudoirs

When I’m not shooting weddings. I shoot lots of boudoirs. I happen to love my role in having women  feel beautiful in their own skin. Society has made it hard on women with plastic surgery and the ‘perfect woman’ syndrome. I like showing that real women are even more beautiful than the magazine girls. They are real and genuine. I also happen to think the body is a wonderland, and whatshisface took that line from me.

These are the Rice Hope Diaries.

This plantation house was pretty haunted. I spent the night the night prior and couldn’t sleep a wink. I don’t know if it was because it wasn’t my own bed or at any moment I would expect to see the grounds little girl ghost watching me.

These girls came down from PA to be with their friend for her wedding and decided to get a hotel (or haunted plantation) and we had a boudoir day with all the girls.

I was semi obsessed with this painting. For some reason the colors were just vibrant and it was kind of mysterious. It made me want to get back to the canvas myself. I haven’t painted in forever but I do love to paint.

It rained all day on us. The lighting was nice and subtle. So many of these pictures turned out great that I know it was hard for them to choose.

These girls were so beautiful that it’s hard to believe they already weren’t in magazines. Jackie looked like a natural in front of the camera.

Now if we just had some snow for this shot, it would have been perfect. Cold. But themed correctly.

Let’s schedule your friends for a boudoir thon. Get a cool looking hotel room or if you have a room that is really unique and you like the look of it, let’s set a day aside and shoot everyone. We’ll have some champagne and berries, play some really awesome music and just have a good time. Oh, and you will come away with some great shots of yourself.

Thanks girls. I love meeting new people. Ok, sorry to cut this short……the husband is whining and we have to get going.

Until later

Natalie - I absolutely adore the second one of her looking out of the sheet!

Hurricane Hanna

It’s Friday Night and I know,  I know *my postings are later than I had hoped for*. No excuses, just been busy is all.

The wind is whipping and the rain keeps coming and going. Hurricane, or Tropical Storm Hanna is outside growling at my east coast right now. I can’t quite figure out why all these storms keep hanging around on the weekends. They are screwing up my shooting schedule. Bleh.  The weather was so beautiful this morning, you’d have never known this storm was lurking (well unless you don’t have a radio, television or computer, that is.)  - Let’s all hope everyone is safe and that everyone has somewhere to sleep tonight without worry.

This really isn’t a blog about the storm, but a blog about Kevin and Michelle. I got to shoot with two shooters for this wedding and that was so helpful. It’s nice having additional hands at the wedding.  Here’s some of the day.

This is a collage of the few of the detail shots from the day. There was a memorial of their son who had passed which was really moving. Life is so precious. Enjoy and relish every minute.

I always love a bride putting her dress on for the first time, with that emerging rebirth expression on their faces. Just like the lifting of the veil is significant in a ceremony, I always felt as if this also is a point of realization on the wedding day and the emotions are usually priceless.

There was this really phenomenal window that we decided to capitalize on. I like the old worn texture on this too, feels so vintaged and antiqued.

Most often the day of the wedding goes by in the blink of an eye and I find things in post processing that was so fast paced at the wedding it’s hard to notice. When I was processing these, whenever I would see Michelle smile, I found myself feeling that same way. My heart smiled with her. I just thought she had one of those contagious smiles that just light up a room. It was the sunshine on the cloudy day. She has a gorgeous smile that makes everyone feel the need to smile right along with her.

And I’d be doing an injustice by not mentioning the guys. They were fun, as usual.. most, and I say most- guys are the life of the parties. They like to act and play gangsta, so we capitalize on that….

And I seem to get this alot, most of the time- I get stomped!

We had rain earlier that day, in fact wasn’t sure it would clear up for the ceremony- but it did. Left puddles everywhere. Yay!  I love puddles!

I love textures. I love brick walls and the textures I use. Charleston is an amazing place for this, and I use them at every opportunity.

Congrats Kevin and Michelle. Loved spending your day with you.

Thanks Jaime and Tamara for the company for the day. I enjoyed having you guys around and shooting with me.

It’s about 11:37pm and the wind is picking up even heavier. This storm is actually supposed to make landfall by 2am so it will be a rough next few hours. I hope everyone stays safe!

Until later
