December 15th Weddinformation Fact:

Useless but fascinating.

The youngest couple ever to marry was an eleven month old boy and a three month old girl who were married in Bangladesh in 1986. The marriage was arranged in order to settle a twenty year feud over a disputed piece of farmland.

*** I really think that gives new meaning to robbing the cradle****

Everytime I post a comment after my fact…it reminds me of the Dukes of Hazard when Waylon Jennings would narrate something along the lines of …..’Now, I don’t know about y’all but that boy’s CRAZY!’

Although my voice isn’t nearly that deep and I don’t just sit around with a guitar……but you get the idea!

Only 10 more days until Christmas. The post offices are crammed, the mall parking lots are FULL…. are you happy and excited or are you tuckered out and ready for it to be over? Don’t get that post Christmas holiday let down. This season with the media constantly talking about our terrible economy, make sure and step out and do something nice for someone. It doesn’t have to even be a gift. If usually you are an aggressive driver and never let anyone out in front of you, take a step back and let someone out in front of you for a change. It’s funny how when you pay it forward someone else feels validated enough to do the same thing for someone else and then all a sudden – things are smoother and not as tense. You may have even made someone’s day a little bit better……..and just think…one of YOUR small acts of kindness started it all. ;)  Good job, you cupcake driver, you!

Weddinformation: Useless but fascinating

I am a sucker for useless information. I love the www.urbandictionary.com along with other sites that offer nothing but facts and useless bantering……so I thought it might be interesting for me to post some useless information regarding what’s near and dear to me. Weddings.

Fact for today, December 14th, 2008:

Wearing a wedding ring on the fourth finger of the left hand dates back to ancient Egypt, where it was believed that the vein of love ran from this finger directly to the heart.

Those Egyptians. Wedding rings and eyeliner……and you thought they just drew on caves!

Nikki and Eric

Nikki is a shoe girl. I have a shoe thing. Although most of the time……I’m kind of known for just my cow (girl) boots.  I love having funky, fun shoes and think they add just a splash of spunk to the wedding photos.

I like cowboy boots and started wearing them when during a few wedding I had to go into the mud and water and would end up soaked by the end of the night. I have black and brown, but have been looking to get some lime green and aqua. Jim bought me some pink ones once, but they weren’t a cool pink, more like pepto bismol pink and kind of hokie.. but I’m still searching for the lime green and aqua. I have seen them on a few sites, but would nearly need to mortgage the house.

Nikki’s shoes were great. They really stood out in photos, and showed some of her fun, trendy personality too. She had great colors in the wedding — they were so vibrant and fun.

Even the cake was bright and cheerful. I didn’t have a piece of the cake but bet it was tasty!

Eric was one of those guys just funny and ready to joke and play to the camera. I really appreciate his eagerness and playfulness. It made my job pretty easy. I always think it’s funny when one of the bridesmaids are a sister of the groom b/c her expression when we do this shot is pretty funny and sometimes the best part of the photograph in general. Eric’s sister is the one at the 1:00 position and when I asked them to do this, her expression was like…….’you want me to do WHAT?’

I love this picture of Nikki.

and i think this might have made the limo driver a little mad… he was rushing us quite a bit… and i just had to get this last shot.. it was WELL worth it!

this is nikki’s veil from generations past. it’s a family heirloom and i just happen to adore veils…..so…. i know she prob thought that veil got lotsa lens time, but it was beautiful.

I never get tired of this shot. Never.

she was UBER prepared and even made their thank you signs with the wedding colors. Good stuff! Congratulations Nikki and Eric. You guys were really fun and I loved working with you.

Now, there’s no hiding from the fact the holidays are coming.

Hope everyone isn’t burnt out with Christmas shopping and holiday madness. I’ve been ‘trying’ to do most of my online shopping this year but have had to go out a few times. Needless to say what I do have done is a feeling of accomplishment once all is said and done.

If there is someone on your list that you are trying to figure out what to get them- buy them the gift of photography. You can buy a package for a friend or family member and they will receive an email from me with your gift giving information to the recipient.  This isn’t like one of those sappy gift cards that secretly expire in 3 months. The gift-email doesn’t expire.

OR… if you know a bride to be that is needing help with her wedding plans and budget, donate a gift towards her photography fund.

Photography is and always will be the gift that keeps on giving. Year after year the things you hold dearest are the photographs of those you love the most. Photography is the PERFECT gift for everyone.

On a side note I’ve found a new love which is pumpkin egg nog. Now, I’m sure you know that I’m on a diet… *sigh, eternally* but I have been resourceful in how I cut calories. I mix the egg nog with 1/4 cup egg nog to 1/2 cup of skim milk. I still get the pumpkin flavor w/o all the pumpkin calories. ;) 20 lbs down and counting.

Until next post.

Moore Bump Chronicles | Family Photography | Tomme Hilton Gallery - [...] | Maternity Remember Nikki and Eric? They got married in 2008 . . . wanna see? Check out Nikki and Eric’s UBER cool wedding! Nikki was first introduced to our gallery years before at a friends wedding (before our gallery [...]

Erica. Oh, and Matt…… ( ;) )

Well, make no mistake. I love Erica. For some reason, we just clicked.  Her family is awesome. She has a twin, Jessica that you may have seen around some of my shots too. She is just as lovely and kind.  I just kind of fell in love w her family. I guess there are times when you don’t get to spend much time with or getting to know the brides you will be shooting and then when you have the opportunity to get to spend time with them, you really form a bond. There just becomes places in your heart for these people you end up so proud to know and be affiliated with.  Erica is one of those people.

So call me weird. I spot this dumpster behind the church and soon became my focal point.

I love veils. She had a very long one and I was trying to get photos of it every time the opportunity presented itself.

Oh, yeah… there is another half to this union. Matt. He has this rugged, scruff look that all girls are loco about.  What I noticed about Matt is he is really in love with Erica. You can sense it all over him. That’s awesome to witness.

The bridal party was fun. It was large so some of the shots took a while to set up and execute. They were all patient and the guys cracked me up. They were clowns the whole time.  That made my work pretty easy b/c Erica was smiling most of the time.

Trying to get the whole church here..it was such a pretty church.

Ah, you may already know this.. but these truly are my fav shots of the day. When I can get them alone and they forget the camera is there. Sometimes the first few minutes of the day they have been allowed to be alone together after the wedding to soak in the fact that they are finally married. I feel like my style is romantic and these are the minutes that the romance just oozes from them naturally.

The cake in all it’s glory..which I may have tried before my dieting days.

and a kiss to build a dream on.

until next time
