Cheryl & Josh

Cheryl and Josh tied the knot long before I entered their equation. They decided they would get married and hire me to do pics at a later date – so we ‘staged’ their wedding. Cheryl and Josh are originally from Myrtle Beach and decided to make an event out of coming to Chucktown and having fun with the camera with ME!! :) It was a really fun change of pace for me as well because it was nothing but TIME to take pics and set the stage accordingly. The lighting was gorgeous as was my “bride” and “groom”. Of course Josh was a little camera shy but a few minutes into it and the inner GQ came in and took over. It always amazes me how much men really like posing it up when their wives/girlfriends tell me how much they were dreading the shoot. ;) Yeah, Yeah!  For any of you on a super tight budget, I thought this was a really crafty way to get in the photos that REALLY count more inexpensively than a wedding day package.

I personally had a REALLY hard time picking photos for this blog. EVERY photo I took was A W E S O M E !! And while this is good for you,  the client, it’s an editing nightmare for me and Erica! ;) I guess I won’t say nightmare, but when you have sometimes a thousand or more images to wade through and they are all GOOD (You can’t BEAR to hit the delete button on any of them) – it gets tedious,  your eyes begin to cross,  you need more coffee refills,  your cat decides to sit on your laptop and interrupt your flow……and…..and soon you find yourself hitting your head against the wall nearest to you. Needless to say – I gave myself a high five for all the good images that came from our evening together.

Cheryl wrote up a little quip about her and Josh and this is what she wanted to share.

Josh and I crossed paths many times in our lives, We use to have a running joke that one of us was indeed following the other.  As a teenager I started working at a local restaurant and was shocked when once again Josh came walking through the door looking for a summer job. For the next two years we worked together side by side and our friendship slowly turned into more. On our first date we went to the beach and ended up staying the entire night talking about our past and what we wanted for the future. In such a short period of time we made  such a strong unbreakable bond. I felt like I truly found my best friend and soul mate that night and for the next 6 years we’ve shared our love of travel and he has encouraged me to follow my dreams of opening the business I fantasized about since childhood. On January 23rd 2010 on vacation at the beautiful 7 mile beach in Grand Cayman, Josh got down on one knee and proposed! As soon as we returned home I immediately knew Charleston was where I wanted our day to be captured. It was a place we’ve spent so many Sundays just strolling the streets and building unforgettable memories and it truly proved to be the right choice. Thank you Tomme for making photos we will cherish for a lifetime.
We wish you the best! Thank you for choosing THG, it was so memorable to meet you both and can’t wait to watch your family grow! ;) – Love, Tomme

Bridal Hottie

Incredibly behind in my postings. If you haven’t seen your session up yet, I apologize and will get some of these up and posted soon.

Here’s some images from a bridal session with Crystal. Her and Josh will be getting married at Wentworth Mansion in September. The camera LOVED her. Well, look how hot she is. The great thing about Crystal is she was up for EVERYTHING. That’s really the key in great  photos. I see it. You do it. If you are reluctant and don’t want to do some adventurous stuff, then the photos will just be that.  She had a great attitude about it all and was so excited to be there modeling, looking gorgeous. She is funny and smart and I’m so excited to be working with her.

Here goes……

I couldn’t resist. I saw this book in the hotel room and was just calling out to me. I’m cheesey and very random with some things that just hit me. Sometimes, Ok most times there is no rhyme nor reason to my madness.

We actually got so many great shots that it’s so hard to pick what to put on here. I’m tellin’ ya- if you are willing, the photos will be fun. I do get some resistance at times and the photos turn out as good as you are willing. For instance, at first Crystal thought I was nuts to ask her to sit on this table- as you can tell it had just rained…. the table was a bit unstable and it was somewhat wet. But, I said to trust me and she would be safe. She did and this is what I got.

She looked very fashionable to me so we emphasized that. She was small and beautiful and it didn’t take hardly ANY coaching to draw out from her what I needed. It came really natural for her.

I also got some great light that I thought looked AMAZING.. I’m a sucker for these sorts of things.

And we saw a black cab that had a european flair- and this just kind of happened.

The hotel itself was really fab. It was where Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillipe stayed on their honeymoon when they married here on Sullivan’s Island.

This is a stair case that I loved. The shape of it alone is so interesting. It draws you into the photo.

And one more, the row of trees and symmetry are something I love to emphasize as well.

Can’t wait for the wedding! See you in September for more fun, Crystal.
